▪ Achilles is currently employed by SBS
and has worked there since 2000. ▪ His qualifications include a Post
Graduate degree in Media Technologies, Composition and Western
Music History from La Trobe University. ▪ Achilles studied Classical Guitar
under Roger Granville-Hicks. ▪ Achilles has many years experience
with orchestral & choral productions including works by Mikis
Theodorakis, Manos Hatzidakis, Stelios Tsiolas, Irine Vela
and others. During this time he had produced recordings both for
commercial sale and the Australian archives. ▪ As an independent producer Achilles
has been involved with numerous ensembles and produced many
recordings, some of which have been aired all over the world
and nationally with the ABC. These CD recordings have been met
with positive critical acclaim such as: Ananke, Jouissance,
Gorani, Canto Coro and the "Habibis" album "Intoxication" which won
an ARIA award for best world music CD in 1998. ▪ The ensemble, Rebetiki has performed
at WomAdelaide 2007, Festival of the 12th FINA World
Championships, Commonwealth Games and recently for the Prime
Minister of Greece at the Rod Laver Arena. ▪ In 2007, he was invited by the United
Nations to perform and produce a concert for the re-unification
of the island of Cyprus. As you might imagine this project was met
with much excitement and enthusiasm. ▪ Other projects include the ensemble
"Rebetiki". In 2010, he & cowriter, Argyris Argyropoulos were commissioned
to compose music for a theatre/musical by Tom Petsinis'
called 'Salonika Bound' directed by David Myles at the Court

part in a theatrical production titled, "Cafe Rebetika!" For this
production he was musical director and production consultant for the 3 week
season at the Victorian Arts Centre. In 2010, the same show was
toured nationally and was received with equal success. ▪ As a composer, Achilles has been
commissioned to create works for Choral groups such as Canto Coro,
the Australian Greek Choir, and film soundtracks including Levantes,
an interpretive documentary based on a
Greek-Australian’s journey back to Greece and Turkey. ▪ Achilles is a founding member of the
band 'the haBiBis', in which he sung and played a variety of string
instruments. He enjoyed many successes with the band including a
presentation with the lighting of the Olympic torch in country Victoria
for the Sydney 2000 Olympics. ▪ Another highlight was when the band’s
CD Intoxication was featured in the Australian film 'Head
On' directed by Ana Kokinos, soon followed by an ARIA award for the
CD. ▪ Some of
Achilles TV appearances include Channel 7s hit comedy series Greeks On The Roof as the musical
director of the show’s band "YiassouYindi", the Denise Show as
well as Channel 2s "Spicks n' Specks". ▪ Achilles has been involved in many
productions both locally and internationally, including; Melbourne’s
Fringe Festival 2003, National Folk Festival, WomAdelaide,
Maleny Folk Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival, Shepparton,
Ballarat, Carnavale, Glenti Festival of Darwin, Antipodes Festival Melbourne,
Kulcha, Kultour etc. ▪ Achilles also runs a private studio
specialising in producing independent albums for local artists,
and is a sound engineer for SBS. ▪ RECENT composer for : theatre - ulyssebad;
exhibitions - elli ioannou; dance - maistros; film - head on; television -

children’s community workshop, canto coro - choral project which was
on-going for 8 years and received critical acclaim during its'
duration. ▪
